State Printing is now capable of Variable Data Printing, also known as VDP,in black ink as well as full color. VDP allows us to read a customer data base and customize each piece as it is printed. This customization could be simply printing addresses, embedding a name within the text of the piece, or changing the graphics on the piece to correspond to changing fields within the customer data base. This allows a customer to target pieces exactly to the members of their audience and increases the retention rate of the information being conveyed as well as the response rate to actions being requested by the printed piece. Full color VDP is run on our Kodak Nexpress digital color press and for those more cost sensitive pieces, we can run black ink VDP on our Xerox Docutech 6180.
Variable Data Printing is a form of on-demand printing in which elements such as text, graphics and images may be changed from one printed piece to the next without stopping or slowing down the press, using information from a database. For example, a set of personalized letters, each with the same basic layout, can be printed with a different name, address, salutation and even different images on each letter. This capability can be used in conjunction with the Office of State Mail to provide a powerful Print-to-Mail solution for your office.
