You have several options when considering a connection to the LaNet Network.

Dedicated Circuit Connection

Dedicated T1 connections are available via a point-to-point circuit provided by a Local Exchange Carrier.  This service is only available to those entities who are entitled to the BellSouth Educational Discount on the T1 circuit--generally, K-20 and library organizations.   An OTM analyst would be responsible for ordering the facility, and OTM provides the DSU/CSU equipment at both ends of the circuit. No installation is charged to the subscriber for dedicated circuit connections. LaNet Access via Frame Relay

This service relies upon an agency subscription to OTM IntraLATA Frame Relay service for access to the intraLATA frame relay service cloud, with a defined access line, port, and committed information rate (CIR) (see the IntraLATA Frame Relay section of this catalog for rate information). In addition to that, the agency subscribes to a rate of access.

The CIR subscription is totally at the discretion of the agency and relates to the guaranteed minimum transport speed across the intraLATA frame relay service cloud. Once the connection to the frame relay service cloud is established, the agency contracts with OTM for LaNet access via frame relay via a burst limited PVC connection from the intraLATA frame relay service cloud to the LaNet service node in their home LATA. The LaNet access via frame relay contract/subscription defines the maximum data rate that the agency may present to the LaNet service node. Any burst above the subscribed rate shall be discarded. The actual transport of the data across the statewide backbone is best effort, as is the nature of all LaNet traffic today. Click here for LaNet Frame Relay Access form .

LaNet Access via ATM

This service relies upon an agency subscription to OTM IntraLATA ATM service for access to the intraLATA ATM service cloud, with a defined access type (see the IntraLATA ATM section of the Catalog of Services for rate information). In addition to that, the agency subscribes to a rate of access. This offering assumes an existing intraLATA ATM port and access line for the agency. Once the connection to the ATM service cloud is established, the agency contracts with OTM for LaNet via ATM through a virtual circuit (PVC) connection from the intraLATA ATM service cloud to the LaNet service node in their home LATA. The LaNet via ATM contract/subscription defines the maximum data rate that the agency may present to the LaNet service node. Any burst above the subscribed rate shall be discarded. The actual transport of the data across the statewide backbone is best effort, as is the nature of all LaNet traffic today.
ATM Access for Co-located Sites--Customers who are physically co-located with OTM backbone equipment may subscribe to ATM access. Rate is based on type of ATM port used, as well as bandwidth subscription. Click here for LaNet ATM Access form.

LaNet Access via Local Ethernet

This service is available to customers in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area with Ethernet connectivity to the Shared Data Center, or to agencies co-located with OTM backbone equipment at remote locations.
