Effective April 24, 1998, Act 7 of First Extraordinary Session of 1998 amended and reenacted R.S. 46:236.3(E)(4) and (I) which relates to income assignments for child support orders. One portion of the act changed from $3.00 to $5.00 the amount an employer may withhold for a processing fee on a child support order.
Agencies are encouraged to get with their legal staff to discuss the entire act and to determine how it may affect current and future processing of employee support orders.
