From: Ronald S. Mitchell, Director
Subject: ZIP Code Changes

Effective July 1, 1997, the United States Postal Service has added new ZIP Codes to specific growth areas such as Denham Springs, Sulphur, Lafayette, and New Iberia. The post office has granted these growth areas a grace period to allow for smooth transitions to the new ZIP Codes; however they will return mail after the grace period has expired. The Finalist software will successfully convert old ZIP Codes to new ones on employee payroll checks and earnings statements.

No automatic address conversions in Master Records will occur. Agencies must obtain correct address information from employees and enter that information on-line. Agencies must notify all employees that the addresses on important documents such as W-2 statements, bonds, and other payroll/personnel documents will be incorrect if employees do not correct their addresses. If an employee is not certain whether the ZIP Code changes have affected them, they must contact their respective Post Master at their local post office. Other questions regarding address changes should be directed to Colette P. Anderson at (504)342-5344, Frank Roberts at (504)342-5357, Stacey Guilbeau at (504)342-5377, or Cheryl Bunch at (504)342-5950.
