EXECUTIVE ORDER MJF 98 - 36

Meetings of State Mineral Board


WHEREAS, the State Mineral Board, created and established by Act No. 93 of the 1936 Regular Legislative Session, R.S. 30:121, et seq., meets at the call of the governor pursuant to the provisions of R.S. 30:123; and

WHEREAS, the customary meeting schedule of the State Mineral Board, one (1) meeting a month on the second Wednesday, is impracticable at times due to holidays, special events, and special circumstances;

NOW THEREFORE I, M.J. "MIKE" FOSTER, JR., Governor of the state of Louisiana, by virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution and laws of the state of Louisiana, do hereby order and direct as follows:

SECTION 1: Upon obtaining the approval of the State Mineral Board, the chair of the State Mineral Board is authorized to issue for the governor the call of a meeting of the State Mineral Board scheduled for a date other than the second Wednesday of a month, when a meeting on the second Wednesday is impracticable because a holiday or other special event falls on that date.

SECTION 2: Upon obtaining the approval of the State Mineral Board, the chair of the State Mineral Board is authorized to issue for the governor the call of a meeting of the State Mineral Board that is in addition to the board's monthly meeting, when special circumstances necessitate that an additional meeting be held.

SECTION 3: All departments, commissions, boards, agencies, and officers of the state, or any political subdivision thereof, are authorized and directed to cooperate with the State Mineral Board in implementing the provisions of this Order.

SECTION 4: This Order is effective upon signature and shall remain if effect until amended, modified, terminated, or rescinded by the governor, or terminated by operation of law. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have set my hand and officially caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the state of Louisiana, at the Capitol, in the city of Baton Rouge, on this 14th day of July, 1998.
