Purchasing 101
Provides an overview of the purchasing process and briefly addresses the State's legal structure that supports the process. Purchasing 101 Training Booklet

  • Procurement Statutes
  • Deficiency/Complaint process


Specification Writing Seminar
Provides the "how to" essentials of good specification writing. Intended as a training tool for those new to purchasing, as well as a refresher and/or support training for more experienced personnel.

To include:
  • Elements of a complete specification
  • Do's and don'ts of writing good specifications
  • Types of specifications
  • Technical writing principles
  • Examples of specifications & group exercises

Contract Search
Provides help and instruction for the Internet search tool. This course will show its flexibility along with its multiple search options. The database is updated nightly from AGPS and LaGOV; therefore, the most current contracts will always be displayed.


Request for Proposal (RFP) Process
Provides a working knowledge of procedures to be used in the procurement method known as the "Request for Proposal." Assists in understanding RFP guidelines for the procurement of high technology acquisitions, complex services, or contracting with a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) in accordance with the Louisiana Procurement Code (LA R.S. 39, Chapter 17).

Customized Procurement Training
Offers training customized to an agency's specific needs and requirements. Agency should describe on the "Request for Training" form the specific procurement area in which training is needed. The Office of State of Purchasing will review and coordinate the agency's request to determine the appropriate training required.
