The mission of the Office of Employment Security is to administer and enforce programs and services affecting employment security and unemployment compensation, direct the employment and training program, provide Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds, ensure that Louisiana workers are provided protection from work related abuse, and to administer the statewide employment service.
The goals of the Office of Employment Security are:
1. Improve the quality of the workforce in Louisiana.
2. Promote economic growth and stability in employment by providing financial security to unemployed workers through timely payment of unemployment compensation benefits.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1998-1999.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
