The mission of the Office of the Secretary is to provide supervision and control over the agencies within the Department of Social Services for improved social conditions for the citizens of Louisiana through the development and provision of social, support and rehabilitation services.
The goal of the Office of the Secretary is to assist individuals and families in meeting their basic human needs of economic self-support, self-sufficiency, and in the protection of their physical and emotional well-being, in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
The Office of the Secretary includes the following programs: Executive and Administrative Support, and Licensing and Rate Setting.
This agency's recommended appropriation includes $808,583 for short-term debt, including Lease Purchase agreements.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1998-99.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
