The Office of Commerce and Industry markets Louisiana to out-of-state and international business, assists potential and existing Louisiana exporters, maintains foreign trade offices, administers tax exemption programs; and encourages and assists in the start-up and expansion of Louisiana business and industry.
The mission of the Office of Commerce and Industry is to market Louisiana as a business and industrial location; help Louisiana companies find international markets for their goods and services; increase the commercial utilization of Louisiana's music resources, and administer Louisiana's business incentives.
The goals of the Office and Commerce and Industry are:
1. Promote a growing and diverse economy.
2. Provide timely and accurate information and services to internal/external clients.
3. Improve communications.
The Office of Commerce and Industry has two programs: Business Recruitment and Retention and Louisiana Music Commission.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1998-1999.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
