The mission of the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home is to provide care for disabled and homeless veterans.
The goal of the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home is to provide the best available medical and health care to Louisiana veterans disabled by age, disease or otherwise, who by reason of such disabilities are incapable of caring for themselves, and require an institutionalized setting.
There are two veterans homes in Louisiana; one is located near the Town of Jackson, and the other one is located in the City of Monroe. Only a small portion of the average cost per patient is borne by the state; the majority of funding is derived from self-generated and federal funds.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1998-1999.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
