The mission of the Office of Family Support (OFS) is to assist vulnerable people in meeting their basic human needs of economic support and to promote their self-sufficiency and independence in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
The goals of the Office of Family Support are:
1. Develop and implement systems that will insure proactive management of the Office of Family Support.
2. Administer the Family Support Act of 1988 to enable Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) recipients to move toward self-sufficiency.
3. Improve the quality of work life for Office of Family Support staff.
4. Maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of program and management operations within the Office of Family Support.
The Office of Family Support has three programs: Executive Administration and General Support, Client Services, and Client Payments.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1999-2000.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
