The mission of the Office of Cultural Development is to preserve, promote and protect Louisiana’s irreplaceable heritage of archaeological sites and historic buildings and provide quality arts experiences and education to all Louisianians. The goals of the Office of Cultural Development are:
1. To increase preservation and protective efforts of the state’s cultural resources and positively impact Louisiana’s economy through the development of those resources.
2. To ensure that every citizen and visitor to the state will have access to quality arts programming.
The Office of Cultural Development has two programs, Cultural Development and Arts.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1999-2000.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
