01-130 Department of Veterans Affairs
The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs is to aid all residents of the State of Louisiana who served in the military forces of the United States during any war, combat, campaign, or any special periods of service during peacetime, along with their dependents and beneficiaries, to receive any and all benefits to which they may be entitled under the laws of the United States or the states thereof.
The goal of the Department of Veterans Affairs is to ensure that Louisiana's veterans, dependents, or survivors of veterans receive all benefits, and the best available services which they are entitled.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
In addition to the above recommended appropriation, $111,212 will be paid in Fiscal Year 1999-2000 for long-term debt incurred on behalf of this agency from the previous sale of bonds. Total long-term debt service payments for the state for Fiscal Year 1999-2000 are reflected in the Governor's Executive Budget Supporting Document in Non-Appropriated Requirements, Schedule 22-922.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
