Program Authorization: Legislative Appropriation, R.S. 29:294
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The origins of this program are traced back to November of 1948, when the State Legislature approved the first bonus payments to Louisiana citizens who were military personnel with service during World War II. This program has, through legislative appropriation and statutory authorization, provided military bonus payments to over 432,869 veterans and 20,262 survivors (widows, children or parents of veterans). Over $96,501,000 in bonus payments have been provided to these veterans and survivors through this program. The military conflicts covered under this program are as follows:
