The mission of this Office is to regulate the exploration and production of oil, gas and other natural resources, and thereby protect public health and the environment. The regulatory role of the office is to protect the correlative rights of all parties involved in the exploration and production of oil, gas and other resources while minimizing the waste of these mineral resources. Additionally, this office exists to provide regulation, surveillance, and enforcement activities to ensure the safety of the public and the integrity of the environment. The goal of the Office of Conservation is to serve the citizens of Louisiana by managing and preserving non-recurring natural resources in the state. The Office of Conservation is composed of two programs. These two programs are: Oil and Gas Regulatory and Public Safety.
This agency's recommended appropriation does not include any funds for short-term debt.
This agency does not have any long-term debt for Fiscal Year 1999-2000.
This agency's recommended appropriation also includes the following amount by means of financing for payments on the unfunded accrued liability of the Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System in accordance with the provisions of Article X, Section 29 of the Constitution of Louisiana:
