The PC/LAN group is divided into a Windows Server team and a Windows Workstation team. Together, this group supports many of the IT business needs of the Division of Administration. Both are involved in the support of Active Directory that provides and manages UserIDs as well as permissions for DOA users and resources. They are also heavily involved in keeping Antivirus definitions and security patches up to date.
They both also answer all technical support questions for Windows operating systems and all standard desktop and server software, which are beyond the level one support offered by the DOA Help Desk. Together, they provide a secure environment that allows DOA employees to share data and printers and to have remote access, as well as to access the mainframe and the Internet.
The Workstation Team specifically handles the installation, deployment, and maintenance of all DOA desktops and laptops. This includes a current Windows operating system and a current suite of Microsoft Office products.
The Server Team specifically handles the installation and maintenance of all DOA Windows Servers. These servers house the many applications required to manage this environment as well as Web applications and Agency specific applications.
A handout is provided to new DOA users. This handout provides them with some basic information concerning equipment, IDs, passwords, and most importantly, how to get help! Click Here to review this handout.
