We acquire U.S. Government surplus fleet vehicles in very good condition from the General Services Administration (GSA) Fleet Management Section. These vehicles are then offered for purchase as is, to eligible donees. We acquire about 300 vehicles per year which are sold often at prices below NADA loan. All types of vehicles are available including small and midsize sedans (including police interceptors); trucks from small, half ton to one ton, 4 x4; extended cab and minivans. We can also acquire special use vehicles such as 15 passenger vans, cargo vans, handicap vans, box vans, buses, dump trucks, truck tractors, stake bodies, ambulances and more. Mileage varies and can be as low as 4,550 miles, but the average mileage is around 55,000.
FEDERAL VEHICLE AND PROPERTY SALE RESTRICTIONS
Pursuant to Federal Management Regulation 102.38-125, Louisiana Federal Property Assistance Agency (LFPAA) is authorized by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to purchase federal vehicles and property prior to public sale. These items are identified as “Fixed Price” or “Negotiated Sale” and are only available for purchase by state and local government, or other tax supported agencies. LFPAA is not allowed to sell these items to non-profit or SBA 8a organizations. These restrictions do not apply to vehicles purchased by LFPAA at GSA’s public auctions.
