BATON ROUGE - Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols announced today that Douglas Baker will serve as the Director of Communications for the Division of Administration.
"We look forward to having Doug take on this strategic role. He brings both expertise and a solid track record to this position that will help the agency move forward on reforms that make government more efficient and effective for the people of Louisiana," Commissioner Nichols said.
Baker comes to the position from the Louisiana Department of Revenue where he also served as Director of Communications. In his role, he will lead the entire communications division and serve as the spokesman for the agency.
Commissioner Nichols said of Michael DiResto, "I want to thank Michael for all of the years of help and hard work he's given to the Division. His expertise and service have proven invaluable throughout his tenure here, and I wish him all of the best in his future work."
Governor Bobby Jindal said, "Since the beginning of our administration, Michael has been a critical part of our team as we worked to make Louisiana the best place in the world to find a job and raise a family. We are sorry to see him go, but wish him all the best in his new job at BRAC."
Biography of Douglas Baker
Douglas Baker is a native of Monroe, LA and hold degrees from Louisiana State University (BA); New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div); and The Johns Hopkins University (MA). He has served as the Press Secretary of the Louisiana Education Commission; Director of Communications for Union University; Director of Corporate Relations for the United States Naval Academy Foundation; Special Assistant to former Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee; Executive Director of The Emmanuel Foundation in New York; and most recently as Director of Communications for the Louisiana Department of Revenue.
