Pending Changes to LINC Long Distance Telephone Service for the Baton Rouge Area (Area Code 225) Now Effective for August 31, 2009
July 14, 2009
This is update information concerning upcoming changes to LINC (Louisiana Intercity Network for Communications) long distance service in the Baton Rouge area (area code 225).
As per the Office of Telecommunications Management's (OTM's) earlier TIN 09-02, modifications continue to progress and may change how LINC long distance service interfaces with your local telephone service. The modifications in the Baton Rouge area (area code 225) are now scheduled to take place on August 31, 2009.
Effective August 31, 2009, Centrex users in the 225 area code region who have been dialing their long distance calls starting with "8 +", must begin dialing long distance calls as:
9 + 1 + area code + 7 digit telephone number
Those Centrex users will no longer use the "8 +" dialing plan beginning August 31, 2009.
For some PBX locations in this area, there may be a slight change in how long distance calls are dialed beginning on August 31, 2009. For these subscribers whose LINC long distance dialing will change, your local PBX administrator should provide you with the new dialing instructions prior to that date.
If your agency's LINC telephone dialing is affected by this change, please be sure that your agency's employees are notified of the change and effective date.
