OFFICE OF STATE UNIFORM PAYROLL MEMORANDUM #99-53

May 11, 1999

To:

All UPS Agencies

From:

Ronald S. Mitchell, Director

Subject:

Use of Shift Code 9

The Uniform Payroll System (UPS) has the ability to automatically pay an employee a premium rate for every regular hour PAID. To accomplish this, a premium hourly rate and a Shift Code of 9 must be entered on the Salary screen (M202/M212) in UPS. If this is done, then NO premium hours should be coded/entered on the employee Time Entry screen to pay this premium rate.

As a reminder, regular hours PAID includes leave taken with the exception of leave without pay. For example, if an employee with a Master Record premium rate and a Shift Code of 9 uses 8 hours annual leave and 8 hours leave without pay in a pay period, this employee would be paid 72 hours of regular pay and 72 hours premium pay.

If you have any questions, please contact the UPS Help Desk at (225) 342-8928.
