| Welcome to the State of Louisiana, Medical Review Panel under the auspices of the Division of Administration regarding the filing of requests for medical review panels. The following is provided on an informational basis and is designed to provide an overview of the Panel and highlight some of the basic requirements that fall under LA R.S. 40:1299.39, et seq. As the State of Louisiana is self insured and covers qualified health care providers in the public sector, medical malpractice claims must be submitted to the Commissioner of Administration. | Mission |
| The mission of the State Medical Review Panel is to serve as principal assistant to the Commissioner of Administration and/or his designee with the responsibility of adhering to all programmatic and administrative matters pertaining to the operations of the State Medical Review Panel (MRP), when applied to all qualified State health care providers as defined in Louisiana Revised Statute 40:1299.39.1, in a timely and efficient manner. |
| Purpose |
| The purpose of the State Medical Review Panel is to guarantee that all qualified State health care providers receive a Medical Review Panel in accordance with LA R.S. 40:1299.39.1 and to provide a source of inquiry and relief for legitimate victims of medical malpractice under this Statute. |
| Goal |
| The goal of the State Medical Review Panel is to ensure that this responsibility is afforded in a confidential and discreet manner within the time frame as specified by LA R.S. 40:1299.39.1. |
