The Comprehensive Public Training Program (CPTP) is the state-funded training program for state employees. Through CPTP, agencies are offered management development and supervisory training, and general application classes on topics as diverse as writing skills and computer software usage.

- CPTP can design and deliver specialized training to address the immediate managerial and supervisory needs of state agencies. For more information, contact the CPTP Office, (225) 219-4528.
- The schedule of upcoming classes is available through December 2008. Click on the "Class Schedules" link on the left. Included in the schedule are mandatory training classes as well as offerings of several other (non-mandatory) classes. Classes that are full are so indicated on the schedule. Please do not register for a class that is marked full. Classes are continually added in most cities, so please check the schedule regularly.
- The Department of Civil Service has issued the revised policy concerning Minimum Supervisory Training Requirements. For classes required by the Policy (Gen. Circulars 1473 and 1721), click on "Class Schedules" link on the left, and then "Mandatory Training Schedule". The effective date of the revised policy is July 1, 2008. - CPTP has developed some great new courses which we've added to the schedule. First, Managing Across Generations, a 1-day course providing information and strategies for communicating with and managing the four generations now in the workforce. Second, Addressing Emotions at Work, a 1/2-day course providing strategies for addressing strong emotions, and when appropriate, those of people you work with. Please check the class listings for more complete course descriptions and upcoming dates!
- In conjunction with the La. State Employees Retirement System, we have added a new module to the H.R. Curriculum: Module 7-- LASERS Agency Training/Retirement Reference Manual Workshop. The first offering of this workshop will be on August 14 in B.R.; however, LASERS does plan to hold this workshop in other areas of the state throughout the year. - For information on the certificates currently being offered by the Comprehensive Public Training Program, please see this flyer. Currently we offer the Certificate for Managing People, which is avaible to managers and supervisors, and the Professional Certificate, which is designed for employees who are not supervisors and managers, but are in professional level jobs.

- The Louisiana State Library is offering special training to state employeeson how to use the library's online databases. These databases can be used to search current and historical information in a variety of newspapers, journals, and electronic books and websites.
